  • Research Group Rules

  • Vacation Policy

    • Each student is entitled to 4 weeks of vacation (20 business days) per year.
    • Students can combine their vacation with any national holidays, provided it does not conflict with classes.
    • A two-week advance notice is required for vacation requests.
  • Seminar Attendance

    • All members must attend group seminars.
    • A late arrival incurs a penalty of 1 RMB.
    • Absence without prior notice incurs a penalty of 5 RMB.
    • Penalties for speakers are doubled.
    • If a member is absent without prior notice twice in a year, one month's allowance will be deducted.
    • All penalties will be deducted from the advisor-paid allowance.
  • Conference Attendance

    • Members are encouraged to take advantage of professional development opportunities, such as workshops, seminars, and networking events.
    • Each student can attend one international conference during their studies.
    • PhD students who have completed both their master's and PhD in our group can attend two international conferences (one during their master's and one during their PhD), depends on funding.
  • Graduation Requirement

    • All students must complete the school's graduation requirements.
    • All students must pass a field data application to graduate.
  • Data Confidentiality

    • All code and research must be kept confidential and cannot be released to any third party outside the group without the advisor's permission.
    • All research data must be stored securely and backed up regularly, following best practices for data management and ensuring data integrity.
    • Data sharing within the group should be done through designated platforms to maintain version control and traceability.
    • All field datasets must be kept confidential and cannot be released to any third party.
    • Any publication related to field datasets requires prior permission from the dataset provider.
    • Breaches of confidentiality will result in disciplinary action, which may include termination from the group.
  • Intellectual Property (IP)

    • Any IP generated from research within the group must be disclosed to the advisor. Members must follow the institution's IP policies regarding patent filings and commercialization.
  • Office Relationships

    • Office relationships are permitted.
    • If a conflict causes a significant delay in research progress, both parties are encouraged to seek support. In cases where progress is affected, they must collaborate on one additional paper for graduation.
  • Individual Development

    • Each student must have a meeting with their advisor each semester to discuss their individual development plan for long-term individual career goals and their research plan for the upcoming semester.
    • These meetings are crucial for aligning goals, addressing challenges, and ensuring the student's academic and research progress is on track.
  • Authorship and Collaboration

    • Clear guidelines should be established for authorship on publications. Contributions should be accurately reflected, and disputes should be resolved collaboratively.
    • Collaborative projects should have defined roles and responsibilities for each member to ensure accountability and efficiency.
  • Code of Conduct

    • All members are expected to maintain a professional and respectful environment.
    • Any form of harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.
    • All research activities must adhere to the highest standards of research ethics and integrity.
    • Plagiarism, data fabrication, and other forms of academic dishonesty are strictly prohibited and will result in severe disciplinary action.
  • Mentorship and Accountability

    • Senior students are encouraged to mentor junior members, providing guidance on research techniques, academic writing, and career development.
    • Peer support groups can be formed to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and discuss research-related issues.
    • All members should regularly check and respond to group emails and other official communication channels to stay updated on group activities and announcements.
    • Any student who exhibits a lay-back attitude and fails to respond to research tasks in a timely manner, resulting in delays to their graduation, will face disciplinary action, which may include termination from the research group.
  • Safety Protocols

    • All members must handle lab equipment and resources responsibly. Any damage or malfunction should be reported immediately.
    • Any accidents or safety incidents must be reported immediately.
    • Maintain a clean working environment. Each student is responsible for their own working area.
